Letter Buddy is a Dutch-language iPad app that helps young children learn to write. Here are the quick answers.

Writing does not respond well

Which pen (stylus) works well?

Your child writes best with an Apple Pencil. No pen nearby? A finger works too, or a low-cost stylus, which works just as well in the app. Note: an Apple Pencil does not fit every iPad. Check first which pen fits your iPad.

The links point to Amazon. We earn nothing from them; these are simply pens that work well with the app.

How do I get into the parent area?

Tap the gear in the top right of the home screen. You see a number written out in words ("three hundred sixty-four"). Type the number in digits on the keyboard (so, 364). This lock keeps children out of the settings and purchases.

New iPad, or reinstalled the app?

Your purchase is linked to your Apple account, not to the device. Open the parent area, go to Spelen โ†’ Aankoop โ†’ Bekijk de volledige app (Play โ†’ Purchase โ†’ View the full app) and tap "Herstel eerdere aankoop" (Restore previous purchase). You do not pay again.

How do I cancel the subscription?

Subscriptions are handled by Apple, not by us. On your iPad, open Settings โ†’ your name โ†’ Subscriptions โ†’ Letter Buddy and choose cancel. You keep access until the end of the paid period, and everything your child already has keeps working afterward.

How do I delete data?

Everything lives only on your own iPad. Delete a child profile in the parent area (Kinderen, Children) to erase that child's data, or delete the app to erase everything at once. Read more in our privacy policy.

A letter looks different from school

Letter Buddy uses the cursive handwriting taught at most Dutch schools. Does your child's school write a letter a little differently? Email us the letter and the method used, and we are happy to look into it.
