Terms of Use

These are the terms of use for Letter Buddy, an iPad app by Linthi B.V. from Eindhoven, the Netherlands. We have kept them as short and clear as possible. By using the app, you agree to these terms.

1. What is Letter Buddy?

Letter Buddy helps young children practice writing on the iPad, starting with their own name. The app is meant for personal use within your own family. It is a practice tool, not a replacement for writing lessons at school.

2. Free and full

You can use Letter Buddy for free with one child and one practice word (your child's name), and with a small selection of reward pictures. All letters of the alphabet are always free to practice.

The full version adds: multiple children, unlimited practice words, all reward pictures, and your own photos as reward pictures.

3. Purchases and subscription

You can get the full version in two ways, both through Apple:

• One-time purchase. You pay once and keep the full version forever.
• Monthly subscription. The subscription renews automatically every month until you cancel it. You can cancel at any time in the subscription settings of your Apple account, at least 24 hours before the renewal date. You keep access until the end of the paid period.

Current prices are always shown in the app before you buy. Payment goes through your Apple account. New iPad, or reinstalled the app? Use the "Restore purchases" button in the app to get your purchase back without paying again.

If your subscription ends, everything your child already has keeps working and stays playable. Only adding new things (extra children, words, and pictures) is locked until you subscribe again or make the one-time purchase.

Purchases sit behind a parental gate in the app and are meant for parents.

4. Your content

Photos and names you add remain yours and stay on your own iPad (see our privacy policy). You are responsible for only adding photos that you are allowed to use and that are suitable for your child.

5. Our content

The app itself, the illustrations, the design, and the writing exercises belong to Linthi B.V. or our licensors. You may use them within the app as intended, but you may not copy them, resell them, or publish them elsewhere.

6. Availability

We do our best to keep Letter Buddy working well and to keep improving it. Still, we cannot promise the app will always be free of errors. We provide the app as it is. This does not change your legal rights as a consumer.

7. If we ever stop

Letter Buddy is made by a small team, with a lot of joy. We hope to maintain the app for a long time, but we cannot promise to do so forever. One day we may stop releasing updates, or remove the app from the App Store. We are allowed to do that, and you cannot hold us liable for it. We think it is only fair to say so up front.

Good to know if that ever happens:

• The app works fully offline and everything lives on your own iPad. An installed app simply keeps working, even without updates. A future iPadOS version may break the app one day; at that point we will sadly no longer be able to fix it.
• If we truly stop, we will shut down the subscription so nothing is charged anymore. You keep the month you already paid for.
• The one-time purchase keeps working for as long as the app runs on your iPad.

8. Liability

To the extent the law allows, our liability is limited to the amount you paid for the app. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

9. Changes

We may update these terms, for example when the app changes. The latest version is always on this page, with the date at the top. For an important change we will also mention it in the app.
